Why would there be antenna incompatibilities with different NTP servers?
ANSWER:
There are a number of different types of GPS antennas. Some are passive and require no power. Others are active and require that power be sent up the cable. Active antennas can be 5V, 12V or 24V DC. Obviously, applying 24V to a 5V would make it very unhappy. Most GPS antennas are designed for coaxial cables, but some are designed to use more expensive cables with lower loss at the L-band GPS carrier frequency.
