QUESTION: What is drift rate?

ANSWER: The notion of drift rate is how the frequency changes with time. Depending on the quality of the oscillator, this is specified in terms of hours or days or months (month = 30 days). The rate is expressed in fractional frequency change in the interval specified. A drift rate of 1x10E-11 per month implies that if the frequency at "time zero" is f, then a month later the frequency could be as far off as f(1+1E-11) = 1.00000000001f.
